When I first heard of Stephen King, the author, it was when my cousins were watching the movie It. I’m too much of a wimp to actually sit through horror movies, and I figured I’d feel the same way about horror novels. Turns out Stephen King has far outshone any other author in the books I’ve read. The nice thing about horror novels, also, is that you can go your own pace and set it down at any time. Though with the gifted way that King builds up suspense, you won’t want to set it down.
Stephen King is by far my favorite author. I love his mix of works from his well-known horror stories like The Shining to more of his sci-fi/fantasy tales like Under the Dome. And nothing has robbed me of my sleep so much as his magnum opus, The Dark Tower series. Despite the late nights, following Roland Deschain’s odyssey kept me sane as a 3rd/4th year PhD student. (Alex, if you’re reading this, thanks for lending me your books!)
Below is a collection of everything I’ve read from Stephen King, loosely ordered by my level of enjoyment.
